NICKNAMES OF FRENCH CABINETS.

Says the Pall Mall Gazette:—Almost every French Ministry gets a nickname. According to Monsieur Reinach, Avho is contributing a history of Gambetta's Administration to a French periodical, tho title of the " Grand Ministry " Avhich Ayas applied to it Avas invented in an ironical spirit by the Figaro. Tho epithet would not have been undeserved it' tho cabinet bad included, as avus intended, MM. Say, Freycinot, and Ferry, "tho three Presidents," but the scheme fell through._ The title Avas more flattering than that given to it by M. About—"Tho Ministry of National Deception" in reference to Gambetta's position in the Government of National Defence, which Avas nicknamed the "Ministry of Barristers." M. Duclerc's Ministry Avas styled, not AA-ithoutreason, the "Ministry of Invalids." The present, Government is spoken of as the "Long Ministry," its chances of vitality being apparently "•roater than those of its predecessors. An unfriendly journal calls it a " Cabinet of Horrors;" and another has dubbed it the " Ministry of False Noses," Avith reference to M. Ferry's possession of a liberal alknvanco of the organ which the first Napoleon thought so highly of. It has also been called a "Ministry of Clerks," m consequence of tho intention attributed to the Prime Ministers of supervising the Avork of his colleagues.
