COOKTOWN.
This day. The steamship Roma, from London via Batavia, brings later details regarding the Sunda disaster, wliich fully confirms the previous news that a tidal wave one hundred , feet high swept several largo vessels fully ► three miles inland, where they remained high and dry. The crews were all saved. The Roma found tho sea around Java covered with pumice, and tho engines. became choked. All the familiar land-marks had disappeared. The loss of life is set down at 75,000, but it is not possible to estimate the amount of damage to property.
