At Messrs Banner and Liddlo's skin sale yesterday, there was a moderate attendance, but nil the lots offered realised full values. Merino, in good condition, fetched up to 6jd per lb ; crossbred, J-woolled, up to od per lb; heavy Lincoln, ■! \d per lb ; hoggets, faulty, up to 'Id per lb ; mixed, per lb. Rough fat, lkl per lb. Hides, medium, 2kl per lb. The following telegram concerning tho London wool market was received to-day from the London office of tho Loan and Mercantile Agency Company by the local agent, Mr Dobscm : —Competition is decreasing, and the market is weaker, except for long staple merino light in greeso, and fine greasy cross-bred, which arc in demand. Homo buyers are purchasing freely, but the Continental demand is limited, tip to date 23G,000 bales have been sold, of which 108,000 bales have been taken for export. Messrs Murray, Roberts find Co. have received the following colonial wool report, dated London, August 8, by tho San Francisco mail: — " Tho record for tho past few weeks has not been wholly satisfactory. No one special cause can bo singled out for the sense of disappointment which undoubtedly exjsts, but in some measure the less favorable weather for the growing crops must bo held accountable for tho. check sustained. In leading wool centres, while fipinners and consumers are acknowledged to bo fairly nuclei , contract, business in tho raw material has been depressed. Instead of the improvement anticipated in some quarters as the summer advanced, there has been rather a disinclination to operate in any wools beyond actual requirements, and this feeling, which continues a leading feature, is increased in presence of the very frco supplies of colonial wools to bo avail - nblo for tho series commencing on the 21st instant. Without attempting to minimise the effect which so large an aggregate as 400,000 bales must at all times exerciso on tho market, it will, however, probably be fpund that for the relatively moderate proportion of desirable Australasian merino growth a good outlet will bo found; ■whereas, on the other hand, faulty merino and particularly crossbreds of a coarse type, in the present condition of trade, can hardly escape fluctuations, if not even some distinct modification of value. Cape wools will also bo largely represented. It is .significant of the state of business on the Continent that at the Antwerp wool auctions, which began on tho 23rd ultimo, and will concludo on tho 10th instant, of

15,015 bales colonial produce brought forward at the first four sittings 14,513 bales were sold with quiet competition at about 5 per cent, decline on London Juno currency. River Plate wools have only been partially disposed of at barely April rates."

[By Cable.] London, September 18. Consols have further advanced to 101$. The markets for colonial breadstuffs and tallow are without change.
