September 1". At the wool sale to-day 11,700 bales were offered. Tho market continues firm.
The ill-fated ship St. Leonards, which foundered in tho channel off Dartmouth, was only ono day out, having left on the 15tli instant. The vessel with which she came into collision wan the Cormorant. It is feared that the latter was severely injured, but nothing- is definitely known regarding the extent of her injuries

The St. Leonards sank within a very short time after collision with the Cormorant. The emigrants were not able to save anything.
O'Do'nncirwas brought up to-day at the Bow-street Police Court, and was charged with tho murder of Carey at Port Elizabeth in July last. Some preliminary evidence was taken, and tho case was remanded. Tho mutton by tho steamship Cuzco from Sydney is realising 3d per pound, and a small quantity of beef by the same vessel is selling at 4jd per pound.
