ANNEXATION CONVENTION TO MEET IN NOVEMBER.
THE WICKLIFFE MURDER.—SENTENCE OF DEATH ON .BURNS CONFIRMED, NEW SOUTH WALES PARLIAMENT SUMMONED FOR BUSINESS. ' MELBOURNE. Thursday. In the Legislative Assembly this evening Mr Service announced that the arrangements for the meeting of the Intercolonial Convention on the annexation question were finally settled, and that tho Convention would hold its first meeting: iv Sydney at the end of November. The sentence of death which was passed upon the prisoner Burns, who was found I guilty of the murder of Michael Quinlivan 1 at Wickliffo in 1880, has been confirmed.
Lord Lisgar has been scratched for the Melbourne Cup.
