THE TOWN CLOCK,

[To the Editor of the Daily Telegraph.] y II?) —Who is in charge of the town clock, and who gave Mr Colledge permission to put an advertisement on its face ? I ask this question because I do not see that one tradesman has any right over another to uso public property for private ends. Again, who appointed Mr Colledgo to keep tlie clock in order ? If the appointment became vacant when Mr Wall sold out, why were not tenders invited? Is the town clock and a certain shop always to be associated? .But, above all, to whom does the town clock belong ? Was it not a gift to the town, and if so who "bosses" it? Who is responsible for the defacement of tho clock by an advertisement ?—I am, &c., A Tradesman. September 3, 1883. «.
