Saturday. Tho Council met at 2.30 p.m. LAND ACTS AMENDMENT DILL. Tho second reading of tho Land Acts Amendment Bill Avas moved by Mr Oliver. Mr Buckley moved that the bill be road that day six months. A lengthy debate ensued, tho amendment being ultimately negatived by 10 to 11, and tho second reading carried by the Speaker's casting vote on a division of 10. SECOND READINGS. Each of the following bills were read a second time .-—lnspection of Machinery, Extension of Public AVorks Act Amendment, Patent Act Amendment, AVest Coast Peace Preservation Continuance, Property Assessment Act Amendment, Town Districts Act Amendment, Special Powers and Contracts, Adulteration Prevention Act Amendment, Middle Island Half-caste Grants, and South Island Natives Reserves Bill.
