TIDAL WAVE IN THE NORTH.

AVellington, This day. Captain Edwin received tho following telegram this morning re a tidal wave at Mongonui:—"The sea has been rushing in and receding with much rapidity for several hours." Captain Edwin has also received a telegram, timed 0 a.m., from Russell, stating that a tidal wave had been experienced there, and also a further message from Mongonui stating that tho first rush of ivatcr took place at 10 o'clock last night, but nothing of any consequence occurred until i o'clock this morning, lasting until 10 o'clock.
