ARRIVAL OF IMMIGRANT STEAMER AVITH SMALL-POX AT BRISBANE. MELBOURNE. This day. A serious railway accident occurred last night ou the line to Essendon, near this city. The 9.-15 p.m. Melbourne train had reached Newmarket, when the signals were found to be defective. The driver proceeded under orders from the signalman, who, however, turned the train on to a couple-siding, when it ran into a cattle train. The shock ivas a terrible one. Twenty passengers in the Melbourne train were injured, two somewhat seriously, but most were able to proceed to their homes without medical attention.
