Is the Education Board going to hold a special meeting for the re-consideration of the recommendation of the Napier School Committee respecting the appointment of a first assistant mistress ? It is quite evident that the late decision for delay was arrived at under a misapprehension. Considering that the Board has now ascertained from what has appeared in public print that the selected mistress is fully qualified for the position, and was the highest qualified eligible applicant, it is surely the duty of the Board to hold a special meeting and allow no further delay from any of its actions. By so doing tho school will for as short a time as possible lose the services of » competent mistress. This is all the more I
necessary, as the annual examination upon wliich the public schools of Hawke's Bay aro judged will take place within two months, and it is qiuto evident that the \ Napier school must be at a great disadvantage when compelled to work without its principal lady teacher.
