The proportion of reserve to liabilities has fallen 1 per cent during the week, and is now 46s per cent. The bank rate of discount remains at 4 per cent, and the market rate at o}. Consols are unchanged at 100]. New Zealand securities arc quoted as follows :—Five per cent 10-40 loan, 1061; five per cent 1889 loan, 105 ; four and a half per cent 1879-1901 loan, 100}; four per cent inscribed stock, 100J,-. Tho wheat market continues quiet. Adelaide, ox-store, 487- : New Zealand ditto, 44/- to 48/- ; Adelaide flour, ex-warehouse, 34/-. Australian tallow, best beef 40/-. and best mutton 41/-. The leather market is steady, rates for Australian hides being the same as last sale's quotations. Sydney, Friday. New Zealand wheat, per bushel, 4/3; New Zealand oats, 2/4 ; _ maize, 2/10 ; sugar, Company's No. 1 pieces, per ton, £35. Adelaide, Friday. Wheat remains ot 5/- to 5/1, with market quiet; town flour per ton £11 hi- to £11 10, and country brands, buyers £10 5/-, and sellers £10 10/-. The freight market is improving.
