It has often been said that land in and around Hastings is very much dearer than land in England. Wo are noAV in a position to compare the prices realised at the late sale of Hastings sections and those obtained at a recent sale of a portion of the Wimbledon Park estate, near London. Portions of the same estate were sold twenty-five years ago at from £500 to £1,000 per acre; on Tuesday (says an English paper) it Avas difficult to get any bidding beyond per acre. The lots sold were : —Lot 7, on Mcrton-road, lying on tho Wandle, comprising Ga. 3r. 16p., which fetched £2,200 ; lot 19, a dairy farm comprising a farmhouse and 2a. 2r. 24p., Avent for £2,600; lot 21, an odd corner lot near tho Common, of 4a. Or. 9p., for £2,750 ; lot 24, comprising 20 plots of building ground near WandsAvorth, 329 ft. by 97 ft., for £750 ; and lot 25, comprising half an acre, for £5-10. Lot 27, comprising The Lake and land surrounding it, was bought in for £40,000, tho last bid being £30,000.
