August. 22—Maori, s.s., for Wairoa, with a full complement of native passengers. * Tho s.s. Sir Donald, Captain Quinism, returned from 3loeangiangi yesterday afternoon, having landed her cargo. The Union Company's steamer Southern Cross, Capt. Allman, from AVellington, arrived at tho anchorage at 9.30 last night and was berthed inside at the breastwork at C.30 this morning, Sho discharged her cargo, some 55 tons, during the forenoon, and at 3 p.m. was to have steamed lor Gisborno and Auckland. The topsail schooner Spray, Capt. AVatchlin, from Timaru, arrived in tho roadstead this morning, after a passage of fourteen days. She has a cargo of oats and wheat on 'board for Auckland, having merely called in hero for orders. She Avill probably sail again this afternoon. Tho s.s. 3laori, Captain Anderson, steamed for AVairoa at 1.30 this day, having a large cargo and a full complement of native passengers. The Union Steamship Company's steamer Taiaroa, Captain Parsons, which left Auckland on 3londay night, arrived at Gisborne at 2 o'clock this morning, and is telegraphed as having left again at 0.15 a.m., so that she, may be expected to arrive here at about 7 o'clock to-night. The launch with the ontward mails and passengers is at present announced to leavo the wharf at S p.m, The Taiaroa is tho bearer of the inward portion of our 'Frisco mail. The s.s. Sir Donald has partly loaded up for Blackhead, and is announced to take her departure for that place on tho first favorable chance. The steamer Kiwi, Captain James Campbell, from AVellington and the Coast, is not now expected here before Friday morning. [By Cable.] London, August IS. On the 11th instant a boy named Duncan 3l'Fade, Avhilc putting a side light out, fell off the rail and was drowned. A terrific gale was hloAving at tho time, and notliing could be done to save him. Christchurch, This day. The New Zealand Shipping Company have received cable advice of the arrival of the lonic at 31adicra on the 19th instant. The refrigerator was working well, and the meat in good condition. The Doric, bound to Auckland, Avas at the Cape of Good Hope on the 20th instant. Dunedin, This day.
