Country, will be played on the recreation ground on Saturday afternoon. Mr Ryan sells at Koseiieath, Taradale, on Tuesday next, Avithout reserve, Mr C. G. Smythe's horses, cattle, pigs, poultry, See., and on Monday, JJrtl September, at his auction mart, Napier, Mr Smythe's freehold property, household furniture, &c. The- .Bon March 6 is giving up the clothing line, and wants to turn the stock in that department into money. The quarterly meeting of the Napier Chamber of Commerce will be held on Thursday, 30th instant. After seven day's grace legal proceedings will bo taken for the recovery of all rates due to the Hawke's Bay Comity Council. The finder of a gold signet ring, lost on Saturday evening, will be rewarded on returningsamo to the ofh'ce of this paper. Mr C. C. Driscoll has been appointed subagent at Waipawa for the North British Insurance Company. On and after September Ist next the byelaw relating to the removal of night soil, «fee, by the Corporation from all prcmisos within the pan system district will be strictly enforced. The official appointment of Mr William Black as surveyor and inspector of nuisances announced. Mr Black is _ also appointed to inspect plans for new buildings. Another ruuholder signifies his willingness to rate himself for the prevention of the spread of the rabbit pest. The owner of a purse containing cheque and money, which has been found, can have same on application at office of this paper. William Edward Woods, chemist, of Napier, declares his inability to meet his business engagements. The first meeting of creditors takes place at the Court House, Napier, on Wednesday, 29th instant. Mr John Hcslop, Buketapu, invites tenders for the erection of a dwelling-house at Puketapu (labor only). Mrs Prebble's registry office- has been removed to Hastings street. Mrs Harding has vacancies for single gentlemen or families. The time for the sailing of the Catalonia from Lyttelton for London via Bio dc Janeiro Is postponed till Saturday.
