[To the Editor of the Daily Telegraph.] Sik, —As showing the amount of courtesy that is ox tended to clients of tlio Government Insurance Department I beg- you will allow me .space in your open column to make known my personal experience of the matter. A fortnight since last Tuesday I forwarded an application to the Commissioner, Mr D. M. Luokie, for a loan on my policy, subject to his decision as to whether I was entitled to same, and across the application was written a request, signed by the Chief Postmaster in the absence of the resident agent (who was away at Gisborne), asking- that a reply might be sent by the steamer leaving , "Wellington that week. No reply, however, came, and on interviewing- the resident agent on the .subject a few days later I was informed that the delay was probably due to the officials at Wellington being busy, now that Parliament was sitting. With this explanation I was satisfied for the time being, but when ten days had elapsed from the date of sending in my application I commenced to grow impatient, and at my own expense wired to the Commissioner with a view to "jog" his memory. I might as well have saved my money, however, for up to the time of writing this letter the Department has not even hud the common politeness to acknowledge receipt either of my application or telegram. I submit, sir, that whether my application was in order or not, (and 1 liave good reason to believo that it was),! have not received the consideration that is duo to me.
