A completion grant of £50 has been promised by the London Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, which has so generously helped to build many of our Churches. This reduces the deficiency to £200, and for this the Bishop confidently appeals to the kind friends Avho have already shown an interest in the undertaking, and to others avlio have not yet contributed, in good hope that the amount will be largely made up before the day of opening, Friday, August 31st, God willing. May He suggest the right measure and the right motive of all such work for the Master, by recalling to the mind of the reader some words of the Grand Old Book, still dear to many, and to Avhich there is none like, e.g., the words of Daiid, " I will not offer unto tho Lord my God that which doth cost me nothing;" the words of the Great Teacher himself, "Freely ye have received, freely give ;" the words of Paul, including a quotation of treasured words of One greater than he, " Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, "It is moro blessed to gii'e than to receive."
