Pearso's Panorama, "From Ocean to Ocean," opens to-night in the Theatre Royal. The annual general meeting of tho Petane Jockey Club takes place at the Petane Hotel at 6.30 to-night. Mr Lyndon will hold an auction sale of fruit and forest trees, shrubs, and flowers, from the nursery of Messrs D. Hay and Sons, Auckland, at his mart on Tuesday next; catalogues ready on Monday. An extraordinary vacancy having occurred in the Petane Road Board, the returning officer, Mr Hamilton, will receive nominations of candidates at tho Potane schoolroom on Friday next. Mr 11. Baker, Chief Surveyor, invites tenders for clearing about 7 h miles of road line through the "bush in the Maharahara block, Woodvillo and Tahoraito survey districts.
The Town Clerk publishes several extracts from the Public Health Acts for general information.
The show of the Poultry and Canary Association will be held in Messrs Hoadlcy, Lyon, and Co's store, instead of at the drill shed. Several more prizes for extra speciil exhibits are added to the list. The terms are announced on which Mr James Boyle's Hastings property will be sold by Messrs. Hoadlcy, Lyon and Co. at the Hawko'rt Bay wool stores next mouth. Miss Waldcn, late of Auckland, has started business as dress and mantle maker opposite the Town Hall, Hastings. Mr Thomas Jeff ares, junr., commences business as butcher at Taradale on August Ist.
The owner of a black and tan sheep dog, found on 2oth instant, can have same by npplj-ing to Mr J. Stewart, G reenmcadows, and paying expenses. A number of new advertisements will be found in our '' Wanted '' column.
