At a little before 11 o'clock last night a fire broko out at Goodson's Arcade packing store, tho stock in Avhich, valued at £400, was totally damaged by fire and water before tho flames Averc suppressed by the brigade. The premises Averc closed at 7 o'clock. The origin of the fire is unknown, but it appears to have originated in a wheeled Avickenvork truck standing against the shelves and used for running goods on the ffoor. The Arcade is insured in the Colonial office for £1750, half of Avhich is re-insured. Goodson's building, Avhere the fire occurred last night, Avas sold to the Australian Mutual Provident this Aveek for £14,100. Tho damago to tho building amounts only to a few pounds. The damage to the stock is about £300, Avhich is insured in the Colonial Office. Patea, This day. A fire at Kakaramea yesterday morning destroyed Mr M'Larcn's boot-maker's shop and stables, and the outbuildings attached to the hotel. The hotel itself Avas not injured. The insurances are—Stables, £300 in the South British office; M'Larcn's stock, £75 in tho Colonial office. Chkistchurcii, This day. At 2 o'clock this morning a grocer's shop and a three-roomed house at Woolstonc were burned down.
