The promoters of this undertaking are fully of opinion that the time has arrived for tbe profitable establishment of a Company to provide the Borough of Gisborne Avith gas. They are fortified in this opinion by that of several practical men, having an intimate knoAvlcdge of the town, avlio have been consulted on the subject. Reliable data have been obtained by personal canvass, Avhich conclusively slioav that the proposed Company's business will commence with a demaud"calculatcd to ensure absolute success to the enterprise. It is proposed to erect Avorks for the manufacture of Gas from coal or any other suitable material, to be supplied to consumers for purposes of illumination, heating, and cooking, or to be used as a moth'e poAver; also, to sell Coal, Coke, Tar, and other residual products to the public ; and to do all such things as may profitably combine Avitli the Company's business. The promoters have purchased, for £850, the most desirable site in the Borough for the AVorks, nearly one acre, AA'ith a good river frontage, and new house thereon, iioav let at £00 per annum.
