The promoters of this undertaking arc fully of opinion that the time has arrived for the profitable establishment of a Company to provide the Borough of Gisborne Avith gas. They are fortified in this opinion by that of several practical men, having an intimate knowledge of the town, who have been consulted on the subject. Reliable data have been obtained by personal canvass, which conclusively sho.v that the proposed Company's business will commence Avith a demand calculated to ensure absolute success to the enterprise. It is proposed to erect Avorks for the manufacture of Gas from coal or any other suitable material, to be supplied to consumers for purposes of illumination, heating, and cooking, or to be used as a motive power: also, to sell Coal, Coke, Tar, aud other residual products to the public : and to do all such things as may profitably combine Avith the Company's business. The promoters have purchased, for £850, the most desirable site in the Borough for the AVorks, nearly one acre, with a good river frontage, and new house thereon, hoav let at £00 per annum.
