Patea, This day

Two men named Peterson and Clarke

were drowned off the bar on Monday night. They had been fishing, and it is supposed that in attempting to cross tho bar the boat

capsized. One of the men hung on to the boat for a long time, but nothing could be done to save him. Tho boat came ashore

yesterday and part of tho men's clothing, but the bodies have not yet been recovered.
