The promoters of this undertaking arcfully of opinion that the time has arrived for the profitable establishment of a Company to provide the Borough of Gisborno with gas. They are fortified in this opinion by that of several practical men, having an intimate knowledge of the town, who have been consulted on the subject. Reliable data have been obtained by personal canvass, which conclusively show that the proposed Company's business will commence with a demand calculated to ensure absolute success to the enterprise. It is proposed to erect works for the manufacture of Gas from coal or any other suitable material, to be supplied to consumers for purposes of illumination, heating, and cooking, or to bo used as a motive power; also, to sell Coal, Coke, Tar, and other residual products to tho public; and to do all such things as may profitably combine with the Company's business. Tho promoters have purchased, for £8<)0, the most desirable site in tbc Borough for the Works, nearly ouc uerc. with a good river frontage, and now house thereon, now lei. at X'OO per annum.
