The parishioners of St. Marks, Clive, hold their annual meeting in St. Mark's Church at 7 o'clock this evening. The time for receiving tenders for the following expires to-morrow: —For delivery of 300 yards of earth free from stones, on the Hastings racecourse, 10 a.m., with Mr F. D. Luckie ; for erecting a concrete wall in Shakespeare-road, noon, at Town Clerk's office; for supplying meat to Union Company's steamers for twelve months from August Ist, noon; for the supply of forage to A.C. in Taupo district, at stations from Petane to Tapuaeharuru, from August 2, 1883, to March 31, 1884, at A.C. office, Tapuaeharuru, 7 p.m. A meeting for the purpose of forming a gun club is convened to bo held at tho Clarendon Hotel on Wednesday evening, 25th inst. ' • Several drilled men can be enrolled in tho Rifie Volunteers during the present month on application to tho officer comanding. On Saturday, 28th instant, Mr Montcith will sell at the Horse Bazaar 30 horses bred in the Wanganui district. Mr Prebble receives fresh oysters by every boat from the north. Capt, W. R. Russell, Faxmere, has £5000 to lend on first-class freehold property. A reward of £1 is offered at Mr Palmer s stables for' the recovery of a sheep slut, which is lost . The Hampden saw mill is now in full working order, "and all kinds of building timber is cut and delivered at current rates. Messrs Blythe and Co. arc clearing children's school shoes at 2/C per pair.
