FANCIFUL FACTS.
Pretty roceptaclcs for dust or brushes are made in cardboard, covered with silk or satin, embroidered, aud having a hanging flounce of the same material.
A fashionable doublo ottoman is made of two cushions covered in plush, the upper ono having a square, put on scarfwise, of eatin lampas. A novelty for gentlemen is a plushcovered cigar-box, that has a lining of per orated zinc, and is supposed to keep tiie contents in a favorable condition.
A pretty Spring suit lately shown is of dark bluo French cashmere and even checked bluo and whito silk. The lower skirt is of tho silk, and has a plaiting of cashmere. Tho waist is of cashmere and has a vest, collar and cuffs of the silk and a short pauier ovorskirt. A low walking-shoo, which will be shown in a few weeks, has cither French or American kid vamps, Loudon (round; too, French heels, with three buttons eJ) the side, and has terra cotta or tan-clolored cloth tops. Dealers say these will be rnnclr worn during the coming season. At ono : largo 'importing house, cmbroidere'd dress-patterns of whito and ecru alull or nainsook are shown. There havo ail embroidered front three-quarters of a yarde wide, which is sometimes made into a, deep ruffle, and sometimes a deep kilt plaiting. With this comes a narrow embroidery for the ovorskirt and waist. Humorous designs are given in the new
silver jewellery that is now darkened to resemble old silver. Three comic masks are on ono long brooch, while Kate Grccnaway's children, the man in tho moon or blinking owls, or sentimental-looking doves, aro curiously arranged on others. The fashionable bangle is a littlo old hunchbacked man or woman mado of gold or silver.
