Sir Stafford Northcote has given notice of his intention to oppose the agreement with Count Lesscps for the construction of the second Suez canal, when the vote to provide the necessary capital comes on f'-r consideration in tho House of Commons.

In the House of Commons to-day Mr Gladstone, replying to a question, stated that any further despatches that miglitbe received from the colonies on the subject of Ncav Guinea Avould receive duo consideration at the hands of the Government.
