REPRESENTATION OF THE COLONIES IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. LONDON. July 8. Cholera has appeared in Cairo. A large force of police, armed with cutlasses, had to be called out to disperse a riotous assembly of 20,000 ironworkers at Stafford. The French Government has protested against the annexation of the New Hebrides, as being a violation of the engagements entered into by the English Government on the subject some time since. The Observer supports the view ot the Australian colonies regarding the annexation of Now Guinea. July 10. James Carey, tho informer in the Phoenix Park murders, has left Ireland for one of the colonies in the Eastern Hemisphere. Mr Murray Smith, Agent-General for Victoria, in a letter to The Times, denies that Victoria ever imported Kanakas to that colony. Major Fergusson, writing to The Times, asserts that the colonies will soon claim the right to be represented in the House of Commons.
