A magic-lantern entertainment will be given in the Church of England schoolroom at Taradale this evening at 7 o'clock. Mr Hemus delivers his second lecture in connection with the Blue Ribbon Army in St. John's school-room at 8 o'clock tonight. The discussion on the nationalisation of the land question will bo resumed in tho AVorking Men's Club to-night at 8 o'clock. The members of the Loyal Napier Lodge of Oddfellows hold their fortnightly meeting in the lodge-room at 7.30 this evening. A meeting of the Hawko's Bay Bicycle Club will be held in the Masonic Hotel at 8 o'clock to-night. Messrs Banner and Liddle hold an important sale of household requisites, groceries, furniture, clothing, &c, at their rooms to-morrow at 11 a.m. Messrs Hoadloy Lyon and Co. sell at their wool stores to-morrow, at 11.30 a.m., the wreck of the schooner Transit as she now lies on the Petane beach, also cargo, sails, ropes, chains, and tackle. If not previously redeemed a white gelding will be sold at the Hastings pound at noon to-morrow. The A r olunteer Band parades for inspection with tho corps on Friday, 13th and 20th instant. Major Butts has taken out a shooting license for the game season. Aclainastor's Novelty Consultation on tho Melbourne Cup is n<j>w open, in which a fortune for 5s can be obtained. A meeting of persons wishing to become members of the Independent Order of Rechabites takes place in tho Oddfellows' Hall, Hastings, on Friday evening. Tho prospectus of Nelson Brothers (limited) Company is published. Mr Monteith publishes particulars of the fowls to be sold at the Horse Bazaar on Saturday. The deed of arrangement filed in tho Supreme Court by AA r . E. Combs for the benefit of his creditors is declared to be completely executed. Mr T. A. Hayes, Hastings, has good unthreshed hay for sale. Rhubarb roots and seed potatoes can be hud at Mr Gillett's, Emerson street. A number of now advertisements will be found in our " Wanted " column.
