VICTORIAN ASSEMBLY CONDEMNS TRUSTEES FOR OPENING MUSEUM ON SUNDAYS. PUBLIC FEELING ON THE ANNEXATION QUESTION.
The ship George Roper, 2033 tons, from Liverpool (April 10), went ashore at the heads while attempting to enter the harbor. The sea was calm, and the vessel is not in a dangerous position. This day. In the Legislative Assembly last night, after a long debate, a motion was carried by 37 to 12 condemning the action of tho trustees of the Museum in opening that institution on Sundays without sanction. Mr Service, in the Assembly last night, stated that he believed it only required pressure to obtain tho proposed annexation of the New Hebrides. The ship George Roper is still ashore at the liei'.ds, and her position is unchanged.
