PAYABLE GOLDFIELD DISCOVERED IN CANTERBURY.

CitRiSTCiiUECH, This day. Information has been received by Mr E. Wickcs, of tho Mining Exchange, that a payable goldfield had been discovered in Canterbury by three prospectors. The wash dirt is said to be showing fine gold very plainly, and also minute garnets and rubies. The locality will not be published till £500 is guaranteed to the discoverers, who state that the field is of considerable area and the sinking not more than four feet. The discovery was made four months ago, and a sample that was analysed by the Government analyst at Wellington showed an average of between 26£ and 3-ldwts to the ton.
