ELECTION OE NEW MEMBERS. The following now members were elected: —Messrs George Rymer, W. Nelson, Lawrence Higgins, Donald McLean, Spencer Gollan, 0. E. Williams, W. Beamish, P, S. McLean, G. H. Swan, G. Faulknor, F. B. Pcrretfc, J. Thomas Wood. NOTICE OF MOTION. Mr Danvcrs gave notice to move, " That section 1, racing rule 11, page 11, of the club rules bo altered by the omission of all words after ' Ost' down to ' excopted' inclusive, so as to read, ' The top woights in any handicap shall not bo less than 9st., and the minimum weight in any hurdle race than 9st. 71bs.' " MODE OF ELECTING COMMITTEE. Mr Burke moved, in accordance with notice previously given, " That the names of all candidates for election on the committee be sent to the secretary seven days before the annual meeting." Mr Bishop seconded the motion. At the suggestion of several members Mr Burke amended hia motion to read '' three clear days " instead of "seven days," and the motion as amended was ultimately carried. In connection witli this subject Mr Ryan gave notice to move that the names of members nominated to serve on the committee be sent into the secretary at least fourteen days before the annual meeting, and that a printed list of the gentlemen nominated be sent to each member of the club, who shall be privileged to vote, notwithstanding that he should bo unable to ajttend tho annual meeting , . _ _ _ _ ■_ Mr Ryan said his object in introducing this motion Was to enable members who resided at long distances from the town to \ take part in the voting. Thero wore many ' members, no doubt, who desired to record their votes, but were precluded by reason of their not being ablo to attend tho meotings. A ".FEW SUGGESTIONS." Mr Gilpin said, if he vras not ou.t of "order

he would liko to offer a few suggestions to the committee. The committee deserved great credit for what they had done, but they did not go far enough. Ho would suggest respectfully that they should make the spring meeting a two days meeting instead of confining it to one. The club was well enough off for funds, and the ai'rangement would be more pleasing to tho public than the present one. There was another thing he would refer to. It seemed that the feelings of some had been hurt by reason of the club deciding against having a hack race. If the club thought well of it he would suggest that the place of a hack race be supplied by that of a Gentlemen's Race. Tho Chairman remarked that the programme for tho spring meeting was already out. Mr Gilpin: ■ There is plenty of time to alter it yet. Mr Allan McLean : But we are not like a lot of school boys to change our minds every minute. Mr Gilpin: Why, you changed your mind a minute ago in allowing a motion you had seconded to bo withdrawn. (Laughter). Mr McLean: That was to obligo the club. Mr Winter asked if Mr Gilpin desired to move a vote of want of confidence in the committee. The programme for the spring meeting had been arrived at after mature deliberation before a full meeting of committee, only two members being absent, and it was not likely that they would reverso their decision in so short a time. Mr Gilpin said he had no intention of making any motion whatever. He simply threw out these suggestions. The committee had done very well indeed as far as they went. The Chairman said, as there was nothing before the meeting, the discussion must close. Mr Danvera asked with respect to the approaching steeplechase meeting whether a horse that won the Bracelet and lost the Steeplechase was qualified to run in tho Consolation. Tho Chairman said the committee would decide that question. The meeting then adjourned.
