Wednesday. At a conference of Australian -underwriters held here this afternoon it was decided to adopt a general tariff for homeward and outward shipping applicable to the whole of the colonies. The conference also resolved to accept the New Zealand underwriter's tariff for New Zealand ports. This day. The Argus to-day announces that it has despatched its special correspondent to New Guinea, and that he left Cooktown yesterday for that Island.
