Juno 19. The tone of to-day's wool sale was again steady, but without active demand. The catalogue comprised 11,100 bales. Recent reports to hand from the French wheat growing districts state that a deficiency in this year's crop is expected owing to unseasonable weather. June 20. In the House of Lords last night the bill for legalising marriage with a deceased wife's sister passed through committee, and was ordered to be read a third time. The Daily News, in its issue this morning, confirms tho statement that Sir Anthony Mnsgravc, late Governor of Jairnaca, and not Mr Richard O'Shaughnessy, has been appointed to the vacant Governorship of Queensland, and states that Sir Anthony will sail for Australia in a few weeks. Latest telegrams to hand from Madagascar reports that the French commander is content with the position now occupied at Tamatave, and has decided not to advance upon Anananarivo, the capital. It is announced that Mr William Gordon has been appointed British Envoy to the Transvaal to open negotiations for the revision of the Anglo-Boer Convention.
