June 14. The British Diplomatic Agent has ceased his relations with Bulgaria. The gunboat Forward has been ordered to the Australian station. The Irish National League have received £1000 from Mr Redmond as a contribution from Queensland. In his remarks the Chairman stated that the telegram asserting that £GOOO had been forwarded from Australia was incorrect. The Chinese Government are making large purchases of munitions of war in America. The Chinese troops are also massing at Shanghai, and the foreign residents there are becoming alarmed at the aspect of affairs. The Marquis do Rays, who was arrested in Paris €md tried for fraud and deception in connection with the New Ireland expedition, has appealed from the decision of the Court, and proceedings have been suspended. Mr John Bright, in addressing a meeting of 20,000 people, appealed to America to abandon her policy of protection. Mr Chamberlain, in a speech in the Houso of Commons, advocated universal suffrage and payment of members. Replying to a question in the House of Commons to-day, the Hon. Eveleyn Ashley, the Under-Secretary for the Colonies, admitted that New South Wales and Victoria were urging for somo sort of annexation of certain islands in the Pacific, but he declined to produce the telegrams on the subject. The Radical party are making use of the proposal to annex the New Hebrides and other Pacific Islands as a weapon of argument against sanctioning the annexation of New GuineaJune 15. A report, extensively circulated yesterday, to the effect that Earl Spencor had resigned the Lord - Lieutenancy of Ireland proves to be untrue. It has been discovered in Dublin that a society has been formed of members sworn to kill the Invincible informers. ' The French forces in Annam refuse quarter to all Chinese found joining the Aunamites. Mr Gladstone stated in the House of Commons that it was probable that the Bechuanas would bo annexed to tho Cape Colony. Lord Granville has offered to mediate in the dispute between France and Madagascar. Tuduc, Regent of Annam, has solicited the support of the Chinese Government. June IG. Sir W. Vernon Harcourt, the Home Secretary, is parleying with the Land Leaguers, regarding the protest made by the colony of Victoria against the Invincible informers proceeding to Australia. James Carey absolutely refuses to leave Dublin. The Tories are greatly incensed at Mr Bright's recent charge that they are allied With Irish rebels who are supported by funds subscribed by tho avowed enemies of England. The Saturday Review supports Imperial annexation in the Pacific, and says it would be cowardly to refuse the request of the colonies.
