PARLIAMENTARY.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Friday. The House met at 2.30 p.m. COURSE OF BUSINESS. Major Atkinson said that, as soon as the Address in Reply was carried, a Supply Bill sent up, and Sir George Grey's motion for a land tax disposed of, he would make a statement as to the course of Government business, and when the Financial Statement would be made. Mr Johnston said that the Public Works Statement would be made a few days after the Financial Statement. Sir George Grey intimated that he would not be forced to bring on his motion at once. He should ohooso his own time. Tho notice had be«n on the Order Paper last session for two months. NEW BILLS. The Minister of Justice gave notice of the Prisons Bill, Bankruptcy Bill, Local Courts Bill, and Tenants Fixtures Bill. QUESTIONS. Replying to questions, Ministers stated they were not prepared to amend the Education Act this session, so as to provide for the periodical removal of sohocl inspectors from one district to another; the rule recently drawn attention to m the case of the railway employees, forbidding them giving information on official subjects to any persons, applied to the whole Civil Service. FIRST READINGS. The following bills were introduced and read a first time : —Eight Hours' Bill (MiGreen), Local Option Extension Bill (Mr Green), School Committees Election Bill (Mr Steward), Pacific Annextion Bill (Sir George Grey), Moral Training in Public Schools Bill (Mr Green), Workmen's Lien Bill (Mr Feldwick), Rights and Privileges of Members' Bill (Sir George Grey), Affirmation in Lieu of Oaths Bill (Sir George Grey), Constitutional Changes Bill (Sir George Grey), General Assembly Bill (Sir George Grey), Law Practitioners' Bill (Sir George Grey). The House at 3.30 adjourned to Tuesday.
