THE WAR IN THE SOUDAN. LONDON. June 11. Tho trial of the seven dynamite conspirators, who were arrested in April last in London and Birmingham, was commenced at tho Old Bailey to-day before Lord Chief Justice Coleridge, Lord Justice Brett, and Mr Justice Grove. In the House- of Lords last night the second reading of the bill for legalising marriage with a deceased wife's sister was, after some discussion, carried by a majority of seven. At tho avool sales to-day 10,;o0 bales were offered. The tone of the sale Avas again firm. Reports to hand from the hop grounds continue favorable, and a good yield is expected. June 12. A vacancy has occurred in tho representation of Monagahan in the House of Commons, Mr John Gavin, the senior member, having accepted the ofiice of Crown Solicitor. Captain G. 0. Whalley, junior member for Peterborough, has resigned his scat. The eclipse of the sun on the Oth May was splendidly observed by the party which proceeded to the Caroline Islands in the Pacific.
