MORE FIRES.

Invercargill, This day. A barn and stable on the farm of John Baird, Centre Bush, Avas burned down on Saturday night. Three horses perished in the flames, and a large quantity of seed, and harness Avas destroyed. In addition to the above a good deal of valuable property belonging to members, and lent for tho use of the Association, Avas destroyed. The Rev. J. Tho members of the Association intend, in consequence of the destruction of their old premises, to make a vigorous effort to {push on the erection of the proposed iicav buildings on their section on Cambridge Terrace. The estimated cost of this is £1000, about half of Avhich is either in hand or promised. Mr F. Hobbs, the lessee of the block, whose lease has some forty years to run, proposes replacing the premises burned Avith a handsome structure of a more substantial and imposing character, the plans for Avhich arc to be prepared as soon as possible. At an inquest held at ArroAvtoAvn on the recent burning of some stacks of hay, the folloAving verdict Avas returned : —" That the stacks Avere maliciously and Avilfully set on fire Avith a view to defraud the South British Insurance Company."
