It has transpired that the friends of Daoud Pasha, avlio was hanged at Alexandria yesterday, appealed to Mr Gladstone to use his influence t j obtain a commutation of the sentence of death, but that the Premier refused to interfere in the matter. June 11. A bill for legalising marriage Avith a deceased Avife's sister Avillbc brought before the House of Lords to-night, aud it is expected that the measure will pass. A course of festiA-ities Avhich has been organised at Birmingham in honor of tho Right Hon. John Bright, and Avhich -will occupy a Aveek, commences to-day.
