TWO COTTAGES DESTROYED BY FIRE.

Wellington, This day. A fire broke out in an unoccupied cottage in Adelaide road at 2 o'clock this morning, owned by Mr John Blandford, which Avas destroyed. The fire then spread to an adjoining cottage, occupied by Mrs Scoons and family, which was also destroyed. Had it not been for a brick Avail separating the cottages Mrs Scoones and her family would probably have been burnt to death. The buildimrs were Insured for £50 in the South British'office. Nothing is known as to how the fire originated.
