The annual ploughing matches under the auspices of the Taradale aud Hastings Plouifhing Match Society take place tomorrow in a paddock at Puketapu kindly lent for the occasion by Mr John Ileslop. Entries must bo made by S.oO a.m , and the ploughing commences at 9.30. A dinner at the Greenmeadows Hotel in the evening concludes the proceedings. The members of the Chamber of Commerce hold their annual meeting at tho rooms of the Chamber to-morrow at 3 p.m.

AVood, Hastings, has board for two or three respectable single men. Mr Kennedy is a travelling agent for the Government Insurance Department. Mr C. Smith Avants everyone to inspect the bargains in drapery and clothing which are being offered at the great drapery sale in Hastings-street. A dark bay mare, impounded at Farndon, Avill bo sold on the 13th June unless previously redeemed. Messrs Blythc and Co. aro clearing best quality of gentlemen's lawn tennis shoes at 12s Gd per pair.
