May 21. In the House of Commons to-day Lord Fitzmaurice, tho Under-Secretary for Forciirn Affairs, stated, iv reply to a question, that a resumption of friendly relations Avith the Mexican Government avus impending. ThoHon. Evelyn Ashley, Under-Secretary for the Colonies, replying to a question re--■urdina; the intention of the Government m view of the recent fighting aaThcli occurred between Cetewavo and certain of the Zulu kingites, announced that the Government would abstain from interference in Zulu-l.-uid at the present juncture. May 25. The Daily News, in a lading article this morning, announces that it has reason to believe that, in the event of the annexation of New Guinea, being decided upon, it -will bo undertaken by tho Imperial Government, and Avill not be left to the colonies. In the House of Commons last night Lord E. Fitzmaurice stated, in reply to a question, that the town of Majanga, in Madagascar, had boon bombarded by French -runboats for six hours before it Avas surrendered by the Hovas, aud that the defenders had suffered heavy loss.
