(Before Captain Prcece, R.M.) TAILING TO REGISTER BIRTHS. Ole Rasmuscn was charged on the information of C. Morton, registrar of births deaths and marriages in the Makarotu district, with failinpr to register a child within the period specified by law. Defendant admitted the charge, but said he had trusted to the clergyman to get tho registration performed, and he had failed to do so. A fine of Is and costs was inflicted. Laurence Larson pleaded a like excuse iv answer to a similar charge, and was also fined Is and costs. His Worship stated he would inflict heavier fines in future cases of this kind. CIVIL CASE.
F. F. Moore v. Chilcott.—Claim of £1 17s Gd for work done by plaintiff as a sign writer. Mr Guy appeared for defendant, and objected that the summons was served on the wrong person, defendant being tho servant of the firm (Messrs Hallenstein Bros.) for which the work Avas done. His AVorship held the objection to bo fatal, and nonsuited plaintiff, with costs.
