A soireo and sacred concert to welcome the Rev. T. F. Jones Avill take place iv the Toavu Hall, Hastings, this evening, tea being served at G. 30, and the chair being taken at 7.30 by R, AVclhvood, Esq. _ The annual licenses for hackney carriages, borough stages, carts, drivers, ko., will be issued at the Town Clerk's office to-morroAV. A special meeting of Lodge Shamrock of the Loyal United Friends is convened for Thursday to transact business of special importance.
Mr Ryan will sell at his mart on Wednesday, -without reserve, four tons Invercargill flour in lots to suit purchasers. Messrs G.B. Smith, F. H. Stevens, J. Nuttall junr., G. T. Scale, H. J. Baker, T. Brinson, R. Pintv, T. Poole, W. H. Peakman, P. C. Cogh'lan, E. C. W. Porter, H. Pilchcr, and J. Burt have taken out shooting licenses for tho game season. Mr Lyndon will sell at Kaikora on Wednesday'the whole of Mr Buckman's stock and household furniture. Mr Westmoreland, the returning officer, publishes the official declaration of the election of the members of the Road Board for the Tanmmu district. Messrs Banner and Liddle havo received instructions to sell at their rooms on Thursday a consignment of winter tweeds, coat-, ings, corduroy, cretonnes, calico, waterproof coats, and shawls. The goods will be on view to-morrow. The annual meeting of ratepayers in the Tainumu Road Board district will be held in the Tamumu school-house on Saturday next. . ! Messrs Banner and Liddle sell at their rooms on Friday, 11th May, a section in Napier, with six-roomed house thereon. Mr Gush, the returning officer, announces the official declaration of the election of members for the Tuki Tuki and Pakowhai wards of tbe Clive Road Board district, ; more candidates than required being nominated for the Clive ward, a poll for the election of three members will be taken on Saturday. The timo for receiving tenders for clearing a gorse fence and trenching for new fence at Pukerapu for Mr. John Hcslop, senior, is extended from Saturday to Monday next. A bay mare and a brown colt are impounded at Taradale, and, if not redeemed, will be sold on Wednesday, May 16. Messrs Blythc and Co. have fashionable millinery at moderate charges. Two paddocks at West Clive arc to lot with immediate possession ; particulars on application to Mrs F. E. Hamlin, Napier, or Mr Alg-ar, West Clive. Mr J. Hutchius, Woodville, has several sections of land for sale or lease in the township of Woodville. Mr W. C. Fowler, Waghorne-strect, Spit, wants it known that old sissors can be made equal to new, and that carving knives, kc, are ground by him and razors set.
