MUNICIPAL COUNCIL. —SPECIAL MEETING.
Tins Day. The annual special meeting of the Municipal Council was held to-day at noon. Present: His AVorship the Mayor, Crs. Monteith, Cotton, Graham, and Ellison. It was moved by Cr Ellison, and seconded by Cr Monteith,—" That it be a special order of this Council that a general rate of one shilling in the £1 upon all ratable property within the Borough of Napier be made for the period from April 21, 18S3, to April 24, 1884, and that the said rate, together Avith the special loan rate of one shilling and sixpence in the £1 be payable in two general instalments, namely, first instalment on June 30, 1883, and the second instalment on December 31, 1883.—Cairicd. It was moved by Cr. Graham, aud seconded by Cr. Cotton,--" That the Burgess List for 1883-84 be now signed, no objections thereto havimr been received, and that His AVorship the Mayor and Crs. Monteith and Ellison be authorised by this Council to sign the list for the year ending Afay 31, 1883."—Carried. Aloved by Cr. Monteith, aud seconded by Cr. Graham, —"That the Rate Book for the year ending April 24, 1884, be iioav certified to, and that His Worship the Alayor and Crs. Ellison and Cotton be appointed to sign the same." The Burgess List and Rate Book were then signed in accordance with the above resolutions, and the Council adjourned.
