ACCIDENTS AND CASUALTIES.
Auckland, This day. Mr Thomas Barnott was thrown from his buggy yesterday at Newmarket, and was seriously hurt. The horse was frightened by an approaching train. John Moore, a printer, is reported missing from the cutter Lancashire Lass at Whangauiata. He is believed to be drowned. He left Sainsbury's hotel Avith his mate Perry to return to the cutter and was never again seen. A constable has been despatched to enquire into the circumstances. Wanhanui, Monday. Denis Coleman, a seaman on board the ITuia, was severely injured in the hip and groin vestcrday by a rope breaking and four sacks of wheat falling on him in the hold. He Avas removed to the hospital. Nelsox, This day. A fatal accident occurred at Hope yesterday. A farmer named Fanzelon Avas assisting to break-in a young horse. A man had the animal fast by a rope placed round a post, Mr Fenzelon struck the lior.se from behind, and the animal at once kicked out, striking Mr Fanzelon in the abdomen so severely that he died in a few minutes. The deceased leaves a Avidow and several children.
