Elic, of the AVanaka, rcpoiicd, on arrival herefrom Lyttelton on last AVednesday, that on Tueday r : ght he pss:;ed a large floating object which resembled either the back of a whale or a smidl vessel bottom upwai-ds, but it was t)0 dark to say positively.
