There was a good attendance of members at the meeting of the Napier Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association last night, when a paper on '' Manly Sports '' _ Avas read by one of the members. Mr J. Sidey was elected chairman for the ensuing month. MrT. H. Hanna resigned his position, of secretary to the association, and Mr J. M. Livesey was appointed.to the vacancy. Mr Haniia's resignation was accepted with expressions of regret, and the hearty thanks of the members Avere accorded to him for past valuable services rendered to the association.

The ToAvn Clerk proceeded this morning to WaipaAva to attend the sitting of the Board of ReA-ieAvers in support of the objection to the valuation of the Corporation reserve of 2000 acres near AVoodville. The value of the property is about £2000, and the property-tax valuation has been set down at £6000.

At a committee meeting of tho Agricultural and Pastoral Society, held to-day, a long discussion took place re ploughing match. Notice of motion was finally given for next meeting as folloAvs, "That no replies having been received from the district ploughing match committees, and also in vieAV of tho financial position of the society, no ploughing match be held by the society this year, but that a cup value ten guineas be giA „i to the champion ploughman in the double or treble-furroAv classes at the AVaipawa county ploughing match."

At the monthly meeting last night of Scinde Lodge, 419, 1.C., there was a large attendance of members and Aisiting brethren. After the lodge Avas opened the PrOA-incial Grand Master was announced, and he Avas received Avith the customary honors. In the course of the evening he delivered a most interesting address on the duties and obligations of Masonry, and referred to Scinde Lodge in complimentary terms. " He explained that the first amendment proposed that the clerical electors of clerical representatives at the General Synod be the licensed clergy of the diocese, instead of those whose names were in a list certified to by the Diocesan Synod. The second amendment provided that the clerical and lay representatives should be elected at a fixed time not less

Archdeacon Stock moved for a clearer definition of the term "communicant," but ultimately withdroAv his motion with the object of introducing a bill on the subject. The Bishop of Auckland moved, —"That the next Triennial Session of the Synod be held at Auckland, in the month of May, 1886 (Easter Day being April 2,3)."—Consideration adjourned. Archdeacon Harris moA-ed —"That the following recommendation of the committee of the whole Synod upon the appeal of certain parishioners against the subefivision of the Parish of Riccarton be adopted b} r the SA-uod:—' That inasmuch as clause 3 of Statute -1 of the General Synod_ has not "been complied -with, the Synod decides that the Parish of Fendalton has not been duly constituted.'" —Carried.
