The operations for the month have been very feAv, it being A-ery difficult to move any tiling-,. especially insurance stocks. Banks —A few transactions in this stock have been completed, but at low quotations, placements being hard to effect. Insurance —All stock of this class is loav, and sellers arc holding for higher prices ; consequently very little business is doing in them. These remarks apply to all classes of stock at the present time. Shipping has a slightly downward tendency; N.Z. Shipping has fallen ss. Coal —I have had no transactions in this line ; I haA-e sellers of AVestport at 17s (20s paid). There are some enquiries for Kaiapoi and Mosgiel. AVellington and ManaAvatu raihvay aro at a slight discount. Northern Investments arc being eagerly enquired for at a slight premium. This stock is fast becoming a faAorite. Since my last quotations I haA'e placed parcels of Bank of Now Zealand at £22 12s 6d ; Colonial, 45s 6d to 45s 9d ; National Insurance, 25s 3d to 25s Od ; South British, 56s 6d to 575; Native Land, 17s; Kaiapoi, £20 7s 6d to £26 10s ; Mosgiel, £4 Is Od to £4 2s ; 3STeAV Zealand Accident, 0s Id to 6s 3d. Buyers: New Zealand Bank, £23 ; Mosgiel, £1 ; Kaiapoi, £26 ss; Colonial Insurance, 9s 3d. Sellers: Colonial Bank, 475; National, 745: New Zealand Insurance, 73s od;_ National, 265; Standard, 14s Gel* Accident, 6s 8d; Napier Gas, £10 5&; Kaiapoi, £26 15s ; Mosgiel, £4 ss.
