ANGLICAN CHURCH GENERAL SYNOD.
The sittings were resumed at the appointed hour yesterday afternoon. On the minutes being read the Bishop of AVellington called attention to the designation "Lord Bishop," Avhereas at all previous sessions the title used was " Right Reverend the Bishop." It was decided to let tho minutes stand, but that in future the designation. '• Uight Rev." should be used. On the motion of the Bishop of Auckland it was resolved to hold no evening sitting on Thursday (this day). Archdeacon Harper moved for leave to bring in a bill to amend Statute No. •'). Leave was granted, and tho bill Avas read a first time, and the- second reading fixed for Monday. On the motion of Archdeacon Harris a select committee Avas appointed to examine Statute No. 9, with a view to the recommendation of amendments, and to the reenactment of the Statute. Mr Pierce moved the folloAving addition to clause 13, Instructions to Trustees (p. 201). —" Provided always that it shall not be lawful for the trustees to allow a charge to be made directly or indirectly for admission to any church." Seconded by the Bishop of Dunedin, and, after discussion, lost on a division. The Dean of Christchurch moved. —" 1. That, in the opinion of this Synod, the day as well as the alternative days recommended by the Lambeth Conference of 1878 for observance as a day of intercession on behalf of missions-—namely, the Tuesday before Ascension Day in each year, or any one of the seven days following is inconvenient for the purpose." Seconded by the Bishop of Aii'-klaiid. Motion negatived. The Bishop of Dunedin moved, "That a committee be appointed to prepare and .submit lodic Synod the draft of a bill to be brought b'-foru Parliament for the incorporation of Dloceson Boards of Trustees. The committee to consist of the Bishop of AVelliugton, the A r eu. Arc.hdercou AVilliams, Messrs J. B. A. Acland, E. C. Quick, G. P. Pierce, and the mover." Mr A. J. Cottorill seconded the motion, Avhich was put and carried. The Hon. J. B. A. Acland moved for leave to bring in a bill to alter Statute No. 7 for establishing a standing commission, and leave being granted, the bill Avas brought in and read a first time, and the second reading Avas made an order of the day for Monday. In referenc to the petition from. Riccartmi, the Dean of Christchurch moved, " That the act of the Diocesan Synod constituting the parish of Fcudalton be upheld, and that the appeal be dismissed." Archdeacon Harris moved as an amendment, "That inasmuch as clause 3 of Statute -1 of the Genend Synod "has not been complied Avith, the Synod decides that the parish of Fendaltoii has not been duly constituted." The amendment Avas earned. The Bishop of AVaiapu moved, "That a committee be appointed to consider the expediency of enacting some provision for the solution of differences between the incumbent of any parish and the parishioners thereof, such as that Avhich has been suggested by the Synod of the Diocese of AVaiapu." Seconded by Mr J. B. Fielder and earned, the committee to consist of the Bishop af Auckland, Archdeacon. Harper, Archdeacon Mules, Messrs Pierce, Acland, Clarke, and the mover. The Synod then adjourned.
