It is expected, should time allow of it, that Major Atkinson will visit Napier before Parliament meets, and deliver lectures here on political subjects. Major Atkinson is a good speaker, and personally popular. It is said that he bears a close resemblance to Mr J. H. Coleman Owing to the wet weather, aud the consequent bad state of the roads, Tawhiao was compelled to postpone his departure from Petane. He visited town to-day, and to those he conversed with he did not express" any impatience at the enforced delay of his return to his seat of government. Ellison has given notice to move, "That a sub-committee consisting of Crs. Wall, Monteith, and the mover, be appointed to define the future of MiLamb as consulting engineer." This is taking time by the fore-lock with a vengeance. 0 Who knows that Mr Lamb is going to be consulting engineer for the borough 'i Now that that gentleman has accepted an appointment under the Education Board, which requires his frequent absence from town, it may suit his convenience to sever his connection with the Corporation. In any case "to define the duties" of a "consulting " engineer appears ridiculous. Have the duties of a consulting solicitor been defined ?
