BURGESS ROLL, 1883-1. rp lIE following extract from "The JL Municipal Corporations Act, IS7G," is published for general information : —• "Clause 40.—The Town Clerk of every Borough shall, on or before the 31st day of MARCH in each year, make out from the Rate-book a list to be called tho "DEFAULTERS LIST," of the names, arranged in the alphabetical order of their surnames, "oi' all persons AVHO HAVE NOT THEN PAID ALL THE RATES WHICH ON OR HE-ORE THE 31.ST OF DECEMBER PREVIOUS THEY WERE. THEN LIABLE TO PAY."
